A little about us.....

Growing up on a dairy farm in Northeast Nebraska, animals were always a big part of my life...just not a horse. I think almost every boy dreams of being a cowboy someday. Some of us grow out of it, some of us don't. I guess I didn't !!

The realization of owning a horse finally happened in 1993. A Tennessee Walking Horse was my first horse. She was a GREAT horse to begin with, but never really challenged me to become a better horseman. That all changed when I wanted a horse to work cattle with and start roping. Jackie, a brown Quarter Horse mare, is teaching me all about horses. Out of necessity, I had to become a better horseman. Like most beginning people in horses, I bought her because she was cheap. She was a little underfed and underweight for a 15'3 hand horse. When I brought her home, I found out why. She was a psycho horse about everything from trailer loading, trimming her feet, and riding. There was a "boogey man" everywhere! She was barn sour, scared of needles, reared, had NO stop and did everything full throttle!

All my friends said I should try practicing Natural Horsemanship with her. After researching the natural horsemanship industry, I decided to try it. The one common thread with almost all of them was the Rope Halter. Problem was (remember, I'm still cheap), they were so expensive! By education, I am an engineer, so, I like to make my own equipment. After much pain, trial and error....my first halter was done!!

One thing led to another, I found myself making halters for friends, friends of friends, helping 4H Groups, etc. I needed an outlet to turn this rope around and supplied mail order catalogs and consignment shops for eight years. Like everything else these days, outsourcing to China seems to be the thing to do. Same thing happened to me. Therefore, 4S Halter and Supply was started. I am offering my halters and yacht braid lead ropes on the internet. I am very proud to say, that through word of mouth, I have sold halters all over the World! This includes the USA, Hawaii, and even England.

My promise to you, will be to supply the highest quality AMERICAN MADE halters and leads that I can at an affordable price. As for me and Jackie, our journey continues....we have won money and buckles in Team Penning, competed in Team Roping and Ranch Rodeo, and I use her to handle pointing dogs in AKC Field Trials. She will always be teaching me more about horses and challenging me to become better!!
